2009 PGA on the Horizon
Golf fans are sure to be excited for the fast approaching 2009 PGA Championship, set to play out in only a few short months from now. The 91st PGA Championship event will continue the long tradition set forth by the venerable series, providing golf professionals and fans alike with the opportunity to witness true sportsmanship and excellence as it begins this August 10th coming to completion on the 16th.
The 2009 PGA is set to be hosted by the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, a course well suited to provide the setting of the Championship. Hazeltine was originally created by a former president of the United States Golf Association, Totton P. Heffelfinger, in order to build a course that matched his vision of being suitable for hosting professional golf championships while still providing a great experience for his clubs more casual players. Over the years the links at Hazeltine National Golf Club have been continually modified to create an internationally recognized venue, well-known for its hosting of many championship matches and the PGA Championship itself in 2002.
Past winners of the PGA Championship and the famed Wanamaker Trophy include golf legends, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh and more. Many of these names, still active in the game, will be in attendance this summer as well in stiff competition for the title. With August 10th-16th fast approaching it’s important to note that the official 2009 PGA website has already made tickets available for those who plan to travel to the event itself.
