Sky Poker Launches Promotional Freeroll Competitions
Sky Poker has recently revealed a number of exciting freeroll competitions as part of an upcoming promotional series meant to entice new poker players to the service. The site’s New Player Freeroll gives the site’s latest members the chance to start off their online poker career with great cash prizes.
New Player Freerolls are set to take place every Tuesday night and each competition will come with a fantastic £1,000 guaranteed prize pool. While the Freeroll events host the same features and cash rewards as traditional competitions, Sky Poker has tailored the promo to appeal to the newest members of its online poker network. Entry to New Player Freeroll is as simple as signing up for an account and competing in any real money competition during the week before the Freeroll is held. Eligible competitors are able to sit in on up to two freerolls each week, duking it out for a portion of the £2,000 of total weekly prize money. Sky handles entry to these events automatically — any newly registered member is allowed to compete if they have taken advantage of their welcome bonus or played staked poker during the appropriate timeframe.
Sky’s Dave Bland explained that the New Player Freeroll exists as a way to “[reflect] gratitude to all our new account holders” and that the site “[values] every new player who joins the family.” Sky Poker’s New Player Freeroll is available now for all new members.

Sky Poker Announce the Return of the Sky Premiership Tournament
Sky Poker enjoyed a great reception with its past Sky Premiership tournaments and now, looking to garner some more goodwill from its fans, it’s bringing the soccer-themed series back for another round. The Sky Premiership tournaments spans every Sky site and givse all members of the gaming network a chance to try their poker skills against others for a shot at taking home cash rewards.
The 2011 Sky Premiership series is set to begin in mid-August and, throughout its stay at Sky Poker, will give fans a number of great chances to win fantastic prizes. Current members of Sky Poker can get into the Premiership tournaments through the special, promotional section of the main site. Once entered they will be assigned to a colour-coded team (The Reds, Blues, Yellows, Purples, Greens, Oranges and Whites) or Team Sky. After being affiliated with a team, players are then eligible for playing poker games (three per week) against other groups of competitors. The football twist sees Sky dubbing each tournament a “match”, pitting one “squad” against another for a chance to win Premiership points. The top players and teams will receive various cash prizes and entry to great, upcoming freerolls.
The return of the Sky Premiership is a smart idea that should help to drum up some extra attention for Sky Poker in the coming months. The series will also garner interest from the rest of the Sky network too as registered players at Sky Bingo, Sky Vegas and Sky Bet are all eligible for entry into the 2011 Sky Premiership.
