Poker, is a card game played with 52 cards. We will cover the main Poker game which is Texas Hold'Em Poker.

You are initially dealt two cards, this is called the opening deal. The initial bet you placed is based on the strength on these inital two cards.

Royal Flush

The Royal Flush is the best hand you can be dealt in the game of Texas Hold'em Poker.

The Royal Flush is where you are dealt the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten all in the same suit. This hand is also known as a Ace High Straight Flush.

The Odds of being dealt a Royal Flush are 649,739 to 1.

Straight Flush

The Straight Flush is where you are dealt five consecutive cards that are all in the same suit.

The example shows a Straight Flush which is made up of the 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of Hearts.

The Odds of being dealt a Straight Flush are 72,192 to 1.

Four of a Kind

Four of a Kind is where you are dealt four cards that are the same within the five cards that you are dealt.

The example shows Four of a Kind which is made up of the 8 of Spades, 8 of Clubs, 8 of Hearts, and 8 of Diamonds.

The Odds of being dealt Four of a Kind are 4,164 to 1.

Full House

The Full House is where you are dealt Three of a Kind and a Pair.

The example shows a Full House which is made up of Three Tens and a Pair of Kings.

The Odds of being dealt a Full House are 693 to 1.

Flush

The Flush is where you are dealt five cards that are all in the same suit. Unlike the Straight Flush, the Flush does not have to be consecutive cards.

The example shows a Flush which is made up of the 3, 6, 8, Jack, and King of Spades.

The Odds of being dealt a Flush are 508 to 1.

Straight

The Straight is where you are dealt five consecutive cards that do not have to be all in the same suit.

The example shows a Straight which is made up of the 5 of Hearts, 6 of Spades, 7 of Diamonds, 8 of Clubs, and 9 of Diamonds

The Odds of being dealt a Straight are 254 to 1.

Three of a Kind

Three of a Kind is where you are dealt three cards that are the same.

The example shows Three of a Kind which is made up of the Ace of Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts.

The Odds of being dealt Three of a Kind are 46 to 1.

Two Pair

The Two Pair is where you are dealt two sets of paired cards.

The example shows a Two Pair which is made up of a pair of 8s and a pair of Jacks of Hearts.

The Odds of being dealt a Two Pair are 20 to 1.

Pair

The Pair is where you are dealt two cards that are the same.

The example shows a Pair which is made up of a pair of Kings.

The Odds of being dealt a Pair are 2.4 to 1.

High Card

The High Card is not really a hand in Poker but it is one that can get played. If you do not have any other hand, the winner goes to the person with the highest single card. If these match, the highest next card is taken and so on until a winner is found.
