The scheduling of the 2009 US Open Golf Championship for this June may help to provide a little extra excitement for the coming months. From June 15th to the 21st professional golfers will be headed to the venerable tournament taking place at a familiar location in New York State.
The 2009 US Open is slated to play out at Farmingdale, New York’s Bethpage State Park (Black Course) in only a few short weeks. The course became the first municipally-owned venue to host the US Open in 2002, undergoing renovations that are almost entirely in place to this day.
While Black Course at Bethpage has had a few minor alterations to its layout, golf fans that remember Tiger Woods winning of the Championship seven years ago will be interested to see exactly how similar the 2009 Open links will be when this year’s play begins.
The course is designed with the Open’s 72-hole competition in mind and hosts the same three-hundred stroke par that Woods managed to finish three under during the last time Bethpage State Park hosted the tournament.
Tickets to the US Open Golf Championship are already available for fans to purchase at the official site of the event. The tournament begins on June 15th with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday scheduled for practice rounds on the Black Course links. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will host the Championship rounds, coming to a close and unveiling the 2009 US Open Golf champion on the 21st.
