The seventh instalment of the 2009 Formula One season is scheduled to take place from June 5th to 7th with the F1 Ing Turkish Grand Prix.
Competitors will head to Istanbul to compete across the spacious course, full of high-speed straightaways and whiplash turns. Sector One of the race has contenders speeding east toward a gradual curve and into the tight turns that lead into Sector Two. Sector Three forces racers into a fast length of track before a speed trap and the zigzagging manoeuvring that makes up the end of the lap.
Each of the Turkish Grand Prix’s 58 laps are 5.338 kilometres for a total race length of 309.396 kilometres. The Istanbul course hosts an F1 time record of 1:24.770, established in 2005 by J.P. Montoya.
Racers head to Turkey on Friday, June 5th to prepare for the Ing Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday, June 7th. Friday will see competitors arrive in Istanbul for a full day of practice (Practice 1 from 10.00-11.30am and Practice 2 from 2.00-3.30pm) and an additional trial run on Saturday morning (from 11.00am until noon) and qualifying rounds at 2.00.
The Formula One Turkish Grand Prix itself kicks off on Sunday, June 7th at 3.00pm.
