2009 Formula One Santander British Grand Prix
The 2009 F1 season continues with the eighth leg of this year’s events at the Santander British Grand Prix in Silverstone.
Silverstone forces competitors to show off their driving skills through a varied, constantly changing track layout. Sector One of the circuit hosts a fairly immediate speed trap and lots of time for racers to gather momentum before they move into Sector Two tight Stowe and Club corners. Cars are then forced into tough manoeuvring as Two ends and Sector Three picks up with the double threat of lost time caused by the Brooklands and Luffield turns near the end of each lap.
The June 21st race at Silverstone consists of sixty, 5.141 kilometre laps for a total race distance of 308.355 kilometres. Michael Schumacher holds the F1 record for best time at the Santander British Grand Prix for his 2004 win of 1:18.739.
The Formula One contestants head to Silverstone for the weekend of June 19th to 21st to make their mark on the 2009 season. Friday, June 19th schedules racers for a day of practice (Practice 1 from 10.00-11.30am and Practice 2 from 2.00-3.30pm) and another trial round on Saturday from 10.00-11.30am again. Qualifications take place on Saturday as well, beginning at 1.00pm before the Santander British Grand Prix itself starts on Sunday, June 21st at 1.00pm.
