PokerStars May Be Ready to Announce Full Tilt Poker Acquisition Plans

It’s been an interesting year for fans of Full Tilt Poker. Following the Black Friday legal scandals that rocked the online poker world in 2011, Full Tilt Poker found itself in a precarious position where it was left without an operator’s license, trying to reestablish itself as a business and find a way to reimburse site members without the revenue to do so. Now, disgruntled players may get the outstanding money they’ve been waiting for as new developments come to the troubled poker platform.

The latest news regarding Full Tilt Poker will come as quite a shock to many industry observers: renowned online poker network PokerStars may be about to acquire the site. This comes after a deal by Groupe Bernard Tapie — an agreement that looked like it was finally going to bring an end to the Full Tilt story with a purchase of the company — fell through, leaving site members in the lurch. Groupe Bernard Tapie was unable to agree to terms regarding paying back player funds causing the potential deal to fall through. Now reports have come in claiming that PokerStars has picked up where Groupe Bernard Tapie left off, coming to a settlement with the United States Department of Justice (current holders of the Full Tilt license) that would see the site making the purchase and providing wronged Full Tilt Poker members with the money they’re owed.

For now the acquisition is still only rumoured, but, if PokerStars does decide to go through with the purchase they can be expected to pay around $750 million in finalizing the deal. Further details should appear sometime in the near future.

Sky Vegas Adds New Casper the Friendly Ghost Branded Slot

Sky Vegas continues to add exciting new games to its enormous line-up, providing members of the online casino with more reasons to keep logging on to their site of choice. The latest addition brings branding from classic cartoon Casper the Friendly Ghost to a five reel, 40 payline slot title.

Fans of Sky Vegas will now be able to play on the brand new Casper’s Mystery Mirror slot game. Mystery Mirror, as mentioned above, features five reels and 40 paylines. The branded slot involves players trying to match three, four or five consecutive Casper-related symbols on a given payline in order to win fantastic cash prizes. Free spins are provided during bonus rounds. These rounds are triggered when three Casper Bonus Symbols or scatter symbols appear (on the second, third and/or fourth reels). If the Mystery Mirror becomes visible during a player’s free spin, random symbols will appear from within each mirror on a reel, offering up multipliers that lead to massive cash pay outs for lucky players.

A statement from Sky Vegas detailed the launch of Casper’s Mystery Mirror, describing how the “friendly ghost is alive and kicking and [ready] for some spooky fun and games.” The game is available now alongside Sky Vegas favourites like the recently added Deal or No Deal and a host of blackjack, roulette and other casino options.

Winning entry to a live poker event is incentive enough for most players to compete in their favourite sites’ promotions, but PokerStars is looking to do one better by coupling free tournament entry with a trip abroad. The Casino Royale Cup, scheduled to take place toward the end of June, will be held in Goa, India and PokerStars is looking to send the winners of its current promotion abroad to take part.

Members of PokerStars will be able to compete in satellite tournaments that reward the most talented competitors with a fantastic prize package. Sky Vegas Launches New Game Show Themed Titles

Game show fans are sure to be pleased with the recent addition of branded titles from Sky Vegas. The online casino has recently announced that its members will be able to play virtual games based on popular television shows such as Deal or No Deal, The Price is Right and more.

Sky Vegas has already launched their new games, providing a wide range of fresh betting opportunities for their fans. Each of the recent additions comes with a game show theme, Sky grabbing up licenses including Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal, Catchphrase, Family Fortunes and The Price is Right. The games have been designed with their source material in mind, giving players the opportunity to compete in virtual representations of their favourite shows. Deal or No Deal, for example, sees competitors picking the game box they think a prize may be within before continuing to open subsequent boxes without choosing a higher value by mistake. The game banker will, much like the show’s host, attempt to buy off the player’s box, leading to the same kind of high-stakes tension that the source material provides. Games like Family Fortunes, on the other hand, are closer to traditional slot titles, complete with multiple paylines, multipliers and bonus game triggers.

Players who are interested in taking Sky Vegas’ new game show titles for a spin are being encouraged by the site’s current sign-up promotion which provides a complimentary £5 to get started with.

Paddy Power Poker Members Receive New Loyalty Program

Paddy Power Poker members are set to receive better, more personalized rewards now that the site has decided to overhaul its loyalty program. The revamped system has been designed to provide players of all skill levels with fantastic rewards and continuous play incentives.

The biggest change in Paddy Power’s loyalty reward is the introduction of tiered “Paddy’s Power Rewards” levels. These levels (Power One to Power Four, Max Power and Max+ Power) filter players based on the amount of time they’ve spent playing online poker — and the number of Power Points they’ve accumulated — during a given month. This new system allows site members to enjoy competition in tournaments designed to appeal to their particular skill level and commitment to the game, every tier receiving access to special events, but higher level players being offered invites to the highest-stakes, biggest-reward tournaments. As part of the redesign, Paddy Power also shook up its Rewards Shop, creating a series of prizes suitable for any type of player (ranging from cash bonuses and hooded sweaters to iPad3s, luxury vacations and even Lamborghinis).

A statement released by Paddy Power Poker detailed the changes to its loyalty program, describing how the company has “revamped, remodeled and rebooted [its] rewards program to reflect the real needs and wants of [its] regular players” and decided to reinforce the idea that customer [loyalty] means lots of ways to score great prizes, free cash and brilliant bonuses.” The updated loyalty program is already live and Paddy Power Poker is celebrating by providing players with double points until Wednesday, May 2nd.

Sky Poker Marks Five Millionth Hand with Giveaway

Sky Poker has been eagerly anticipating reaching the landmark of five million hands dealt in recent months and now the milestone has been met. In order to help celebrate the achievement the site gave out some exceptional prizes to competitors.

The five millionth hand was dealt this month, marking an enormous milestone that saw several lucky members of the site rewarded with iPad tablets and cash. The five iPads on offer were given away to every player who was able to take part in a game of poker that fell within 100 hands before or after the 50 millionth hand was dealt. These players also had to have earned a minimum of 50 poker points during the month of March to have been entered into the prize draw. Even better for Sky Poker is the coincidence of this April marking not just the landmark statistic, but the fifth birthday of the site as well. Sky took advantage of this to offer up a promotion that provided £100 to every one of the players who competed in the five millionth hand game, boosting the amount to £500 for the winner and doubling the payout they received from the site’s “cash for points” system.

A statement released by Sky Poker detailed the festivities and their achievement of the five millionth hand, describing how the “monumental figure” marked “a seminal moment in the history of our online poker room.” The statement went on to say that “Sky Poker is grateful and [that] no celebration would be complete without the key players, especially the 500th millionth one.

Bodog Poker’s professional players/brand ambassadors, Team Bodog have just grown by one member. The site recently announced the addition of Hong Kong’s Jay Tan to its roster, expanding their line-up with one of the poker world’s fastest rising stars.

One of her most impressive showings was at the Macau Poker Club’s recent Red Dragon event where she finished second. Tan is the niece of famous American writer Amy Tan (The Joy Luck Club) and, aside from being skilled in poker, is an accomplished mahjong player as well. Bodog Poker continues to make forays into the every expanding Asian poker market, signing Tan (who speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English) after having launched Chinese language support for its online casino platform.

Considering the continuing growth of poker in Asia, Tan felt that Bodog was a smart choice for her sponsorship, stating that “[Bodog] seems to really understand the Asian market” and that the site’s anonymous tables are a great choice for a demographic of competitors who “are new to the game and don’t want to be beaten by players who are unfairly using their own playing data against them.” Bodog Poker’s Vice President, Jonas Odman, agreed with her points and added that “with Jay as the face of the brand we can take things a step further” in the Asian market.
